This site currently ships no photographs, and that is deliberate. Nothing is published without a verified licence, so until the register holds licensed images the pages carry drawn figures instead — each one answering a question a photograph cannot.
For every third-party image: photographer, source, original URL, licence and version, attribution requirement, verification date, alt text, location and focal point. We do not assume every image from one host carries the same licence, and we do not hot-link.
One rule has no exception: a photograph of a Nubian house, doorway or person is not stock, is not scenery, and does not illustrate a chapter about Nubian history. It needs consent, a named photographer and a caption that says who and where — or it does not run.
